FT: Sporting CP 2-2 Arsenal (UEFA Europa League) 2023 | HIGHLIGHTS


UEFA Europa League round of 16 first-leg ties between Sporting CP and Arsenal at Estádio José Alvalade Stadium this evening ended in a dramatic fashion with fourth lovely goals.

Mikel Arteta's side, who sit on the top of Premier League table returned to Europa League competitions this evening as they Portuguese side in the first-leg of the round of 16 of the competitions.



The Gunners made perfect start to the game by dominating possession and created a chances but unable to converted it until when Willian Saliba scored from Fabio Vieira inch-perfect corner.

The Frenchman bagged sensational header to put Mikel Arteta's side infront of the host. Tenth minutes later, the Portuguese side made response by scored equalised goal.



They scored through Gonçalo Inácio, who delivered excellent header. Both parties unable to find breakthrough and ended the first opening 45 minute with 1-1.

However, in second-half, Sporting CP taken a lead through Paulinho strike. Arsenal then made quickly response through Granit Xhaka's deflected effort.



Mikel Arteta's side had couple of chances to claimed victory but they failed to converted it.

2-2 draw in Lisbon means, the Gunners must claim victory at Emirates next week when play the second-leg tie.
